COVID-19 Update from LANTRA – January 2021
Following last night’s announcements, government guidance and rules in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have changed again:
- It is the responsibility of individual training Providers to keep up to date with relevant rules and guidance.
- Our current understanding is that training is an integral part of work and follows the same rules as “Going to Work”. As such, “…you can only leave home for work purposes where it is unreasonable for you to do your job from home, including but not limited to people who work within critical national infrastructure, construction or manufacturing that require in-person attendance“. In situations where people are permitted to leave home for work and where training is needed for the work to be undertaken safely, that training is permitted.
- Providers should review alternative remote delivery solutions if available. Where no alternatives are suitable, then we understand the guidance permits face to face training subject to Providers’ and employers’ assessment of specific conditions and compliance with full COVID-19 safe practices.
- Because training decisions are situation specific, it is not possible for Lantra to second guess every training situation. Individual Providers, in consultation with their customers, are best placed to assess each case in relation to the relevant national guidance, and to determine whether training should take place.
Where the Provider determines training can take place, Lantra will take the booking, dispatch materials and certificate training that takes place, subject to our normal quality processes
Clearly this is a fluid situation, and we will keep you advised as and when further guidance becomes available.
