COVID-19 Update from LANTRA – 2nd November 2020

Following the announcements over the weekend, England is back in “lockdown”. Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland all have restrictions of one sort or another in place, and it is for individual Training Providers to understand and comply with the particular restrictions in each country.

The new nationwide restrictions in England do make it simpler than the previous regional variations and there are some significant differences from the first lockdown. The government is encouraging work to continue, and schools and colleges remain open. Much of Lantra training is safety critical and it remains an employers’ obligation to ensure that workers are properly trained.

Unless and until we are advised otherwise, training and assessment can continue provided that all involved continue to follow the COVID precautions that Training Providers already have in place. Lantra is also advising the wearing of face coverings when people are indoors, except where individuals have exemptions or where face coverings may cause other health and safety risks. The rules and guidance for training premises are the same as for other workplaces. See HSE and GOV.UK websites for more information.

Clearly this is a fluid situation, and we will keep you advised as and when further guidance becomes available.
